Strengthening Community Connection and Activation


Since 2020, we have proudly built leadership and power with hundreds of program graduates.
We have Identified over 5,000 education supporters with our visibility in the community event meeting families where they are at. Through transformative programs like the Academy of Powerful Parents, CUIDA Care Project (E.D.I.E.) 2.0 Next Level Advocacy, and Literacy Bootcamp for Guardians, we are fostering leadership development and building capacity to drive positive change. Our initiatives equip families with the tools to navigate education systems and advocate effectively, creating a lasting impact in their lives and communities.

ACADEMY of Powerful Parents

  • The Academy of Powerful Parents – A leadership and education series for caregivers who want to understand how schools work, build communication skills, and become confident advocates for their child’s success.

    • Build Leadership and Confidence:
      Participants will complete 18 hours of training across eight sessions, gaining the confidence to share their personal stories and advocate effectively for their children’s educational needs.

    • Empower Families with Knowledge of Rights and Choices:
      Parents and caregivers will learn about the educational landscape in San Antonio, understand their rights, and make informed decisions for their children.

    • Hands-On Advocacy and Organizing Skills:
      Through practical activities and real-life scenarios, participants will learn how to organize for policy change and engage with schools and districts to advocate for equity.

    • Culminating Project:
      Each participant will present their story at a graduation event, sharing their journey and new skills with family and peers.

CUIDA Care Project

  • Confianza, Unidad, Inclusión, Derechos y Aprendizaje
    (Trust, Unity, Inclusion, Rights, and Learning)

    The CUIDA Project – A program focused on supporting families of students with disabilities and multilingual learners, covering rights, support plans, and how to build strong partnerships with schools.

    • Empower Caregivers Over 10 Months:
      Participants will engage in two sessions each month—one educational workshop and one support group—totaling around 10 months of comprehensive learning and community support.

    • Develop Advocacy and Communication Skills:
      Caregivers will learn to confidently navigate special education processes (including IEPs, 504 plans, and language support), and enhance their communication with teachers during parent-teacher conferences.

    • Master Special Education Fundamentals:
      Families will gain a deep understanding of the ARD process, how to organize and interpret educational paperwork, and how to use tools like the Education Passport to effectively advocate for their child’s needs.

    • Encourage Leadership and Policy Engagement:
      Participants will be introduced to leadership opportunities within their schools and communities, learning how to influence policies and advocate for inclusive practices.

    • Celebrate Learning and Impact:
      At the end of the course, families will share their stories through short videos or presentations, receive certificates, and be recognized for their dedication and growth.

Literacy Bootcamp raises awareness of San Antonio's literacy rates and students' individual scores. Parents learn to digest literacy data scores, help their children improve their reading skills, and advocate for high-quality literacy instruction.
