    • Parents have the right to clear, timely, and accessible communication from schools in a language they understand.

    • Schools must provide essential documents (IEPs, report cards, policies) in an accessible format.

  2. Right to Access Teachers & School Staff

    • Parents have the right to schedule meetings with teachers and school administrators to discuss their child’s progress.

    • Schools must provide multiple ways for parents to communicate (email, phone, in-person, virtual).

  3. Right to Participate in Decision-Making

    • Parents have the right to be involved in decisions that affect their child’s education, including policy changes, curriculum choices, and school governance.

    • Schools must provide opportunities for parent involvement in committees, advisory boards, and school decision-making processes.

  4. Right to Special Education Support

    • Parents have the right to request evaluations and access special education services without barriers.

    • Schools must provide parents with clear information about their child’s educational rights under federal and state laws.

  5. Right to Advocate for Their Child’s Educational Needs

    • Parents have the right to challenge school decisions that they believe are not in their child’s best interest.

    • Schools must respect and support parents in the advocacy process.

  6. Right to a Culturally Responsive & Inclusive Education

    • Parents have the right to demand education that is inclusive of diverse cultures, languages, and learning needs.

    • Schools must ensure that education policies and practices reflect the diversity of their student population.
